A Message From Pastors Harold And Christy Kilborn

Aloha!  We trust that you will feel right at home as you join us in worship of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Our desire is that through the singing, worship and ministry of the Word, you will enter into His Presence and be touched by the power of His Holy Spirit and that the name of Jesus will be lifted up and we will all be drawn to Him.

People can recognize the way Christians love others. It’s different than what is experienced in the world. As a church, we are continuously striving for relationships that build a strong community and help us grow in our love for Jesus. If you have a question, contact us for more information.

Watch Out!  Once you come, you instantly become a part of our church family, so make yourself right at home.  Join us!

Aloha Ke Akua (“with” the love of God),
Pastor Harold and Christy Kilborn

What We Believe

God

God is the eternal Creator and sovereign Lord of all things. He has always existed and has no beginning or end. The one true God reveals Himself in three persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are distinct in person, yet fully united as one God, equal in nature, glory, and power.

Genesis 1:1,26,27; 3:22, Psalm 90:2, Matthew 28:19, I Peter 1:2, II Corinthians 13:14

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully divine and one with the Father. He came to earth and lived a sinless life, revealing God’s truth and love in human form. By willingly giving His life on the cross, He became the perfect sacrifice for the sins of the world. On the third day, He rose from the dead in victory over sin and death. He later ascended into heaven, and He will one day return in glory to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Matthew 1:22-23, Isaiah 9:6, John 1:1-5 & 14:10-30, Hebrews 4:14-15, I Corinthians 15:3-4, Romans 1:3-4, Acts 1:9-11, I Timothy 6:14-15, Titus 2:13

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is fully God, one with the Father and the Son. He works in the world to bring conviction of sin and to lead people to Jesus Christ. From the moment of salvation, He lives within every believer, sealing them as God’s own. He gives strength for daily living, wisdom to understand spiritual truth, and direction to walk in obedience. As followers of Christ, we are called to yield to His leading each day and live under His influence and power.

II Corinthians 3:17, John 16:7-13 & 14:16-17, Acts 1:8, I Corinthians 2:12 & 3:16, Ephesians 1:13, Galatians 5:25, Ephesians 5:18

The Bible

The Bible is the written Word of God, given to mankind through human authors who were guided by the Holy Spirit. It is the final authority for what we believe and how we live as followers of Christ. Because Scripture is inspired by God, it is completely trustworthy, true, and without error in all that it affirms. It reveals God’s will, provides wisdom for life, and leads us in righteousness.

II Timothy 3:16-17, II Peter 1:20-21, II Timothy 1:13, Psalm 119:105,160 & 12:6, Proverbs 30:5

Salvation

Salvation is God’s gracious gift, freely given and not something we can earn through our own efforts or good deeds. Because all people are affected by sin, forgiveness and new life come only through faith in Jesus Christ. He alone is the way to the Father, and when a person places their trust in Him, they are forgiven, made right with God, and welcomed into His family. Eternal life begins the moment that faith is placed in Christ.

Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:8-9, John 14:6 & 1:12, Titus 3:5, Galatians 3:26, Romans 5:1

Eternity

Every person is created for eternal existence. Because of sin, humanity faces either everlasting separation from God or eternal life found through His forgiveness and salvation. Those who reject God remain separated from Him, which Scripture describes as Hell. Those who receive His gift of salvation through Jesus Christ are brought into eternal fellowship with Him. Heaven and Hell are both real and lasting realities of eternity.

John 3:16, I John 2:25 & 5:11-13, Romans 6:23, Revelation 20:15

Our Leadership

Pastor Harold Kilborn - Lead Pastor - The Church at Koloa

Pastor Harold Kilborn

Lead Pastor

Pastor Harold was born and raised on the island of Oahu and graduated from Bethany University with a degree in Biblical and Theological Studies. Since 1981, he has faithfully served as pastor of The Church at Koloa, a cherished historic landmark and the first church he has been called to pastor. He and his wife, Christy, have been blessed with nearly 30 years of marriage and ministry together. They are the proud parents of two children and grandparents to two grandchildren.

Over the past 30 years, Pastor Kilborn has devoted himself to the study of apologetics, an area of ministry in which he has been greatly influenced by Dr. Walter Martin. He has also had the privilege of teaching at Calvary Chapel Bible College here on the island of Kauai.

Pastor Kilborn has a deep love for seeing people grow and mature in their walk with the Lord. He believes that expository teaching—carefully going through the books of the Bible verse by verse—is one of the most faithful and effective ways to help believers grow strong in their faith.

When he is not reading, studying, or teaching God’s Word, Pastor Kilborn enjoys making the most of life outdoors. He loves activities such as kayaking, deep-sea fishing, spearfishing, and swimming in the beautiful waters of Kauai. Among his favorite outdoor pursuits is boar hunting.

Pastor Lon Malapit

Pastor Lon Malapit

Associate Pastor

I’m Lon Malapit, and I’m blessed to serve as an Associate Pastor here at The Church at Kōloa. Born and raised right here in Kōloa, Kauaʻi has always been home, and I have a deep love for this community and the people who make it so special.

At the heart of my ministry is a passion for sharing the life-changing love of Jesus and reaching as many people as possible with the hope of the Gospel. I believe God can meet people wherever they are, transform lives, restore hope, and draw us into a deeper relationship with Him. Being able to play even a small part in that work is something I never take for granted.

Over the years, it has been incredible to see the different ways the Lord has opened doors for ministry throughout Kauaʻi. I have had the privilege of helping build KESU Radio 94.9 FM, known as Kauaʻi’s Jesus Radio, as well as launching *True Aloha Kauai*, a podcast ministry created to share faith, encouragement, and the message of Jesus with people both here on the island and beyond. I have also been blessed to serve alongside a variety of ministries that support, encourage, and strengthen the broader body of Christ.

Youth Pastors

Life can be tough, and we believe God never intended for us to walk through it alone. He is a God of grace, forgiveness, love, and mercy—a God who meets us exactly where we are and invites us into a close, personal relationship with Him.

One of our greatest passions is helping teenagers understand that Jesus is not just someone they hear about at church. He is present in the everyday moments of their lives—the good days, the difficult ones, the questions, the celebrations, and everything in between. No matter where they are or what they are going through, they can turn to Him anytime, anywhere. Helping young people discover that kind of relationship with Jesus is a big part of why we love serving at Kōloa Church. For the past nine years, we have been incredibly blessed to walk alongside our youth and watch the ministry grow into a community filled with friendship, faith, laughter, and genuine care for one another.

Our own story brings together two very different backgrounds. Isaiah was born and raised right here on the North Shore of Kauaʻi and has deep roots in the island community. When he is not spending time mentoring teens, you will often find him running his local tree trimming business, hunting, fishing, or enjoying the outdoors. Melissa grew up in Ohio and followed God’s call to Kauaʻi 30 years ago. She serves the community as a nurse and, when she has the chance, loves spending time riding horses.

Together, we are happily married and the proud parents of two amazing sons who have filled our lives with plenty of joy, adventure, and laughter. Our experiences as parents have also given us an even greater appreciation for the important role that faith, encouragement, and positive relationships can play in the lives of young people.

At the heart of everything we do is a desire to see young lives transformed by the love of Jesus. We believe some of the most meaningful ministry happens simply by showing up, listening, encouraging, serving, and being willing to walk alongside someone through whatever season of life they are facing.

We would love the opportunity to get to know you and your family, share a few stories, have some laughs, and be there for your teens as they grow in their faith and discover just how deeply they are known and loved by Jesus.
